When I got married I knew very little about cooking. I had grown up in a home with a fantastic cook, my mother. I’m not sure when I realized that just because she could cook didn’t necessarily mean I could. Another thing I came to learn when I got married is that it takes just as long to cook a mediocre meal as one that tastes really good. How about that? I decided that I wanted to be able to make delicious food that would cause my family to someday say, “My mom makes the best…”
I embarked on a mission to become a good cook. I soon came to a lovely conclusion. Anyone can make yummy food with a good recipe. That was the secret! Good recipes and a little experience. My new mission became, find good recipes! Okay, maybe I’m a little obsessive in that area, but if I give them away to other people that appreciate a good recipe then it’s not really a mental illness at all—it’s sharing valuable experience. See how healthy that sounds? And no one even needs to know that my cookbook collection has wandered in to the three-digit numbers. But enough about that…
Since I am always on the lookout for a new recipe, especially one that others have tried and enjoyed, I hope we can share. Or, how about that nifty new thing you learned how to do that I don’t know yet—teach me!
We started a recipe club in my neighborhood and I am looking forward to posting some of them here along with my own contributions. We have a monthly theme and we try and find a new recipe to share.
So, here goes:
